Guia Hill: A UNESCO Treasure Trove at the Summit

The highest point on the Macau Peninsula, offering incredible 360-degree views and UNESCO heritage sites.
Guia Hill is the highest point on the Macau Peninsula, offering incredible 360-degree views of the city. It’s also home to the Guia Fortress complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring the Guia Lighthouse, the Chapel of Our Lady of Guia, and a fun, budget-friendly cable car.
Guia Fortress was built between 1622 and 1638 and once played a crucial role in defending Macau against invasion. Inside, you’ll find the Guia Lighthouse, which dates from 1865 and holds the distinction of being the first modern lighthouse on the Chinese coast. Right next to the lighthouse stands the Chapel of Our Lady of Guia, famous for its well-preserved frescoes that blend Western and Chinese religious motifs.
The cheapest way to enjoy the best view in Macau is by taking the Guia Cable Car (MOP$2 single, MOP$3 round trip). It glides over Flora Garden and offers a quick, scenic journey up the hill. Note that the cable car is closed on Mondays.
Getting from Greenery Inn: Take bus 12, 17, 18, 18A, 18B, 19, 22, 23, 25, 25B, 32, or 56 to 'Flora Garden' (5-10 mins). A taxi costs MOP$30-40, or it's a pleasant 30-40 minute walk (2.5km).
