Three Lamps District

Known as 'Little Burma', this neighborhood offers an authentic, budget-friendly taste of everyday Macanese life.
Known officially as the Rotunda of Carlos da Maia, the Three Lamps District is the heart of Macau’s Southeast Asian community. Unlike the glitzy casino strips, this neighborhood offers an authentic, budget-friendly taste of everyday Macanese life. At its center stands the iconic three lamp posts, a local landmark that has guided hungry visitors for decades.
This area became home to thousands of overseas Chinese from Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam in the mid-20th century. Their legacy lives on in the incredible street food and bustling markets. Just a two-minute walk away is the Red Market (Vermelho Market), a striking three-story Art Deco building from the 1930s where locals shop for fresh produce and dried goods.
Must-try eats include mohinga (Myanmar’s national fish noodle soup) and pork offal noodles. The area comes alive in the late afternoon (4–6 PM). Bring cash as many small vendors don't accept cards.
Getting from Greenery Inn: Take bus 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 9A, 12, 16, 18, 19, 22, 25, 25X, 28C, or N1A to the 'Three Lamps' stop (5-10 mins). A taxi takes about 5 minutes (MOP$30-40), or it's a 15-20 minute walk (1.5km).
